Flashback – Masters of French Art
12 Dec 2008 – 22 Mar 2009
We attended the opening of the DAGAS masters of French art, it was the first time audiences in Australia had the opportunity to see an exhibition devoted to one of the most significant and admired French artists of the nineteenth century, Edgar Degas. Below are photos with the director of the art gallery and few well known artists in their own rights. The talented Margaret Ollie, and the late great former NGA Director Betty Churcher.
The exhibition presented important paintings and sculptures by Degas, as well as drawings, experimental monotypes and photographs. The exhibition draws works from major Degas collections, including Musée d’Orsay, Paris, Musée des Beaux Arts, Pau, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the National Gallery of Art, Washington, and the J Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles.
