A brief history

The artwork above is what dad and I had produced for the dinner. It will be displayed in a permanent museum at the Cathedral later on.

Vlad designed Archbishop’s Carols coat of arms – he was the fifth Roman Catholic Archbishop of Canberra-Goulburn between 1983-2006 (retirement). Carrol was born in Ganmain NSW, second of seven children. Prior to his election as archbishop, Carroll served as Bishop of Wagga Wagga (1968-1983) and was president of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (2000-2006). Both of these great men have been very close with my family over the years in Canberra, including my sister and I. Both have been there for our Confirmations and have been involved with my grandparents’ deaths (funeral mass).

50 years – Cathedral parish of St Christopher’s
It has been a vibrant center of Catholic life for so many in the Archdiocese. This anniversary Year offers us all an opportunity to look back with thanks for all the many blessings the Lord has given us, especially in the celebration of the Sacraments in our beloved Cathedral.
In this Year of Walking Together, we look forward in hope and faith for the next 50 years.
Archbishop Christopher Prowse

On Saint Patrick’s day Friday March 17, dad and I headed off to a special mass then celebrated a dinner for 50 years of Saint Christopher. This is the artwork that we had produced for the jubilee dinner.
