Export Awards

Welcome to the new Twitter logo – Here you see it projected on the corporate headquarters building in downtown San Francisco. (Credit – Carlos Barria/Reuters). With the rise of Letters in design for brands and strong use of typography, Sen serif fonts are making a come-back and Twitter has now re-branded itself with an X.

It’s taken a whole new identity to the cute and innocent birdy we have been used to seeing. In my opinion the ‘X’ has taken a dark turn in look and feel of its new corporate identity. A bit like the movie Batman ‘The Dark Night’. Maybe this is what Elon Musk is after – a more sinister look and feel of a dated brand. It must now compete with Mark Zuckerberg’s ‘Threads’ social media platform – the new rival for Twitter. Like with everything brands and designs never stay the same forever. On that note, see my portfolio below of the Export Awards I was involved with in 2018.

The new Twitter brand ‘X’.

I worked on this project at the Canberra Business Chamber: working on the design, awards, electronic slides, program, and website administrator for the Export Awards. Usually the branding is blue, especially for the logo. In this instance I used a new take on it and made it a gold theme. The décor ie. flowers and colour scheme for the lunch settings complimented the luncheon that was at the National Gallery of Australia in the golden Grand Hall.

I thought the program and design took on a lighter tone on the once blue ‘Export Awards’ Theme. The look has never been used in that way since. This was unique and different for that year’s approach to the theme. A great success and something that is unique to the Export winners to keep for that time.
