The Carillon CBR

On the eve of Easter around the corner, Canberra’s weather is changing. With it we get some spectacular blue skys in Canberra. I took this beautiful picture perfect sight of the Carillon this morning. Spectacular morning – great day for a stroll! Below are Monica’s photos of this amazing structure.

The Carillon has 55 bronze bells, the pitch of the bells ranges chromatically through four and one half octaves. The bells each weigh between seven kilograms and six tonnes. Cast in England by John Taylor & Co of Loughborough, they are fine examples of the art of bellfounding.

Next you will see a painting of the carillon – a study oil on canvas by Vlad Mosmondor in 1971.
