I remember it was New Years Eve (31 December 2022) in Australia, when I heard that the pope died. It was very sad. I remember that my parents went to see the pope in Sydney in 2008 for the National Youth Day celebrations. The pope blessed photos of me and my sister, and we received rosary beads. 

My father Vlad, worked for the Holly Sea at the time in Canberra, he was invited to a private audience with the pope. 

“Jesus, I love you,” were the last words of Pope Benedict XVI, according to Argentine daily La Nacion.

I watched the funeral on Thursday 5 Jan, it was a very simple yet dignified mass and service. A very cold and foggy morning in Rome it was. His funeral, presided over by Francis and was attended by around 50,000 people.
